Weaving up the narrow Thompson Canyon
Meandering unhurried traffic, under thin slice of sky
River alongside the road reflects the sun
Steep lichened granite walls cut with shadows.
Flowing unhurried traffic, under thin slice of sky.
Why do hills and mountains bring strength?
Steep lichened rock walls cut by shadows
Quick glimpses of bird and deer among tall pines.

Fishermen among river rock cast glistening lines toward trout

Canyon coves of cabins, cottages, campgrounds.

Pullouts with small crowds, cameras pointed at mountain sheep

Invitations to stop for cherry cider, jerky, or to watch river rapids.

I close my eyes
You seem so near
Your thoughts whisper
In my ear.
Tho I know
I know not when
I know we will meet again.
Unsaid words
Dreams of days to come
Unfinished things might seem
No regret
No cry
No hurt I feel
Just the love you leave
With me.
Tho the rain clouds
Gather here today
I must leave you
Face the storm
Then when sun
Replaces the rain
I’ll know you
Have found your way home.
